Image to text and screenshot to text
Give it image links (png, jpg, tiff, bmp, webp, gif) and get the printed text in each one.
The job
Paste image or screenshot URLs and get one row per image with the text, Tesseract's confidence, and a status that tells you why when nothing was read. Languages: English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese and Dutch, alone or combined. Ask for lines to get each line with its position, or markdown for paragraphs.
Example input
{
"files": ["https://example.com/screenshot.png"],
"languages": ["eng", "deu"],
"outputFormats": ["text", "lines"]
}
Example output
{
"source": "https://example.com/screenshot.png",
"page": 1,
"status": "ok",
"confidence": 0.91,
"language": "eng+deu",
"text": "..."
}
Illustrative rows showing the output shape, not a real run.
Good to know
- It is OCR, not vision: it reads printed text, not handwriting, diagrams or photos of scenes.
- Textless images come back as
no_textrows, not errors; they still use a little compute. - Up to 100 MB and 60 megapixels per image.
